Collaborative development with Bosch

Collaborative development – Bosch connects competencies

Modern vehicles are becoming increasingly defined by software. With growing requirements for automation, personalization, and efficiency, however, the complexity of software and systems is rapidly increasing. In order to overcome this challenge, collaboration with a variety of players is crucial. Thanks to comprehensive software competence and automotive expertise, Bosch is the right partner to optimally implement its wide range of competencies for and with its customers.

New forms of collaboration

The vehicle is developing more and more into a software-defined vehicle (SWdV). Electronic control units (ECUs) must take on more and more tasks in the E/E architecture and link different domains together. The smart orchestration of the ECUs is done by software, which is becoming increasingly more comprehensive and complex. At the same time, software development cycles are significantly shorter.

To overcome these challenges together, cooperative collaboration of various companies (OEMs, suppliers, and platform providers) is crucial. This joint development requires a new mindset, a holistic understanding, and transparency across the entire process. Bosch acts as a supportive partner in this process, from the development of common standards and methods to the selection and implementation of required tools, and continuing through to execution.

Achieving the right collaborative model in four steps

1. Initial meeting

Initial meeting

The goal is to establish an initial personal contact, which forms the basis for a trusting partnership. This includes a common understanding of the customer’s specific needs: What is the goal? What is the current situation? And what are the possible obstacles?

2. Comparison with portfolio

Comparison with portfolio

In step two, the complete Bosch portfolio – including standard solutions that are common on the market – is reviewed for existing solutions. Are there already products, models, or approaches that could be helpful for the partner’s specific requirements? Together, options are discussed and assessed.

3. Identification of customized solutions

Identification of customized solutions

Together, we examine to what extent customized developments must be added to existing solutions. Are adjustments, other participants, or other tools required to achieve the goals?

4. Collaborative development of customer-specific solutions

Collaborative development of customer-specific solutions

Together, additional specific solutions for the customer are developed that are targeted at individual goals and challenges. A customized solution is created for the customer from components of the existing portfolio and individual new developments.
