The fuel rail receives the fuel from the fuel-supply system and distributes it to the fuel injectors. It is important that the fuel is available at the required pressure at the start of injection and that there are no pressure fluctuations between the individual injections.
The Flexstart system resorts to a heated fuel rail. Here, the fuel is heated up in order to guarantee a comfortable cold start, even with a high ethanol content in the fuel. Depending on the ethanol content and the outside temperature, the electronic engine management controls the heating elements via the heating control unit.
